This Summer Research Intern position is designed for an undergraduate student interested in gaining exposure to early-stage research in biotechnology and contributing to basic lab tasks and operations. The role offers rotational learning opportunities across three key scientific groups:

 

 

  • Digital Biology – Learn about data-driven experiment design and high-throughput screening approaches
  • Protein Science – Observe protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques
  • Virology – Gain exposure to virology workflows and assist with experimental setup in a biosafety lab setting (BSL-2)

 

 

What You’ll Do:

• Shadow scientists and observe day-to-day operations in each group

• Participate in team discussions and lab meetings

• Assist with simple lab tasks under close supervision:

  • Reagent and protein preparation
  • Performing biological assays
  • Lab data organization and curation
  • Other administrative and/or operational lab support, as needed (included but not limited to: buffer preparation, labeling, equipment cleaning, and more)

• Learn about the translational research pipeline from discovery to development

• Conclude with an informal reflection or brief presentation on your experience

 

Who You Are:

• Currently enrolled in a college program (Biology, Biochemistry, Public Health, or related field preferred)

• Curious, organized, and eager to learn

• Comfortable in a lab setting and able to follow safety protocols

• Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude
